A True Believer: Why Jesus marvelled so should we.

Luke 7 recounts the story of a centurion who sought Jesus' help to heal his dying servant. After Jewish elders pleaded with Jesus on his behalf, Jesus went with them to the centurion's house. However, before they arrived, the centurion sent some friends to tell Jesus not to trouble himself, as he did not feel worthy to have Jesus come under his roof.

The centurion's request reveals his deep faith in Jesus' authority and power. He believed that Jesus could heal his servant with just a word, without needing to physically touch him. In contrast to other healing miracles that required physical touch, the centurion trusted in Jesus' word alone.

Jesus was amazed by the centurion's faith, declaring to the crowd that he had not seen such great faith even in Israel. This statement underscores the importance of having faith in God's promises and trusting in His authority over all things.

As we reflect on this story, we can learn from the centurion's example and aspire to have great faith in God's promises. Often, we may struggle to trust in God's word and seek more signs or confirmation from others.

Often, we find ourselves seeking validation and confirmation from external sources rather than relying on God's Word. We become so dependent on signs and signals that we lose sight of the fact that the Word of God is enough. We forget that God's promises are unwavering and trustworthy, and we begin to question them in the absence of tangible signs.

However, we must remember that true faith means believing in His promises even when we cannot see the outcome. Let us trust in the authority and power of our Lord Jesus Christ and have faith in His word, knowing that He has the ability to bring about the miraculous.
